Give the room number and your phone number
Hotels are the one address type where the street name gets you nowhere on its own. Put the hotel name, the room number and a phone number on the order, and stay reachable — front desks rarely put a courier through to a room without a call first.
If you are checking in later the same day, order after you have the key. A delivery to a guest who has not checked in yet has nowhere to go.
What hotels usually allow
- Meeting the driver in the lobby: always fine, and the fastest option.
- Delivery to the room door: common, though some hotels route all couriers through the front desk.
- Front desk holding an order: generally not possible with alcohol, because it has to be handed to an adult with ID.
- Drinking in the room: normal. Drinking in the lobby or pool area is usually not, and that is a hotel licensing matter rather than a delivery one.
Order for a room, not a kitchen
You have an ice bucket, two glasses and no equipment. That rules out anything needing shaking, muddling or fresh juice, and it makes the obvious picks the right ones: a whiskey you can drink neat or over ice, a bottle of wine, a sparkling bottle for something to celebrate.
Johnnie Walker Black Label at $130 or Jameson Irish Whiskey at $90 both drink well with nothing more than ice. If wine suits the evening better, ask the front desk for a corkscrew before you need it — plenty of rooms do not have one.

If the order is for a group
A hotel room with a dozen people in it is a party with no fridge. Order cold where you can, use the ice machine on your floor, and pick cans over bottles — there is nowhere to put empties and no opener.
For wedding blocks and group stays spread across several rooms, one delivery to one room beats five separate orders arriving at the desk over an hour.
Timing and ID
Bring your ID to the door or the lobby; every order is checked at handover, hotel or not. A room key is not ID.
Availability and delivery windows depend on your delivery area. Select your city to see what currently applies, and if the evening has a hard start time, order before it rather than during it.
Common questions
Can I have alcohol delivered to a hotel I have not checked into yet?
It is best not to. The order has to be handed to you with ID at the time of delivery, so wait until you are in the room or can meet the driver in the lobby.
Will the hotel charge a corkage or delivery fee?
That is up to the individual hotel and not something we can speak for. Most do not for a guest's own bottle taken to their room, but a banquet or event space usually has its own policy.
What should I order if the room has no glasses?
Cans or a pack of coolers. Housekeeping will usually bring glasses on request, but cans remove the problem entirely.
